Going to switch to ClimoFar next 0015 Some funky sea clutter-type thing way out to the west; not there previous days 0030 Switching to RainMap; I see a need for a surveillance scan between rainmap & ClimoFar, something that tops a bit more but requires less scientist input (no RHI,e.g.) 0045 Went out of RainMap and started ClimoEasy in name_easysurv.scn, goes above 6deg to this anvil that is sticking around. 0128 Catching some weird power spike along 292deg. That is the sun. 0130 Easy surveillance scan times out a bit short, but that is ok. Right now does 0.5-2.4 deg twice, then one 0deg 360. 0210 Running RainMap alone in Name_climo so I can update that file and rename name_easy. 0215 Restarted ClimoEasy in name_easy.scn. 0304 Surveillance continues on scattered 10-20 dBZ echo, ClimoEasy still topping everything. Bug echoes increasing in intensity. 0322 Bug echo pushing 30dBZ now; Low-Level winds from NW now, no more sea breeze. 0351 Dumpbell echo (partial) pattern aloft 0430 Been playing with scans to train Dave A. on scan controller, now running ClimoFar with RHI throuhg bugs. 0445 Running ClimoEasy.Nice dumpbell pattern now. 0527 REally interesting Doppler pattern, with NW-SE at low-levels, NE-SW aat mid-levels and SE-NW aloft, with the Dumpbell associated and aligned with the winds aloft. 0600 ClimoEasy restarted manually as it somehow got out of sync and was running late. May have to keep an eye on synching, it doesn't look 100% reliable. 0645 Running Profiler to test timing, not much out there besides bugs and mountains 0700 Profiler timed out well, not much time to open up a new scan file, though, may have to clip last RHIs in certain cases. 0700 Restarted ClimoEasry. 0915 ClimoEasy continues to run, overall pattern has changed little during the last few hours. 1053 ClimoEasy continues. Bugs echoes reduced somewhat, but have spread out over the water for some distance. 1145 Neg ZDR due N, east of bugs. 1157 Dave Ahijevych taking notes, control from Tim Lang. 1227 Don is worrying on something. Scan is stopped at 110.4deg, elevation 5.69-5.72deg and rising. 1225 Trying to restart. Don was not working on anything, but something was inadvertedly changed. Note: accidentally hit circuit break while changing a couple of old, broken monitors. 1220 Missed start of RainMap 1231 Started RainMap scan. Problem fixed. 1233 Switched to ClimoEasy scan after one RainMap scan. I will piece together another ClimoEasy, 0 deg and resync ata 1245 with the ClimoEasy scan sequence. 1238 Real precipitation, 50 km, 135deg topped at 7.4deg. 1240 Skipping the 0deg scan and just letting second ClimoEasy scan run. 1245 Restarted ClimoEasy scan sequence. 1254 For practice, will switch to NAME_climo.scn at 1258 1259 Started ClimoFar scan sequence in NAME_climo.scn. Moved RHIs to 144deg. 1315 Just realized there is no "sync-to-15-minutes" in this scan sequence. It started the next iteration of ClimoFar about 20 sec early. Just need to remember this. 1330 Resynced after sequence finished 40 sec early. 1333 Not enough action for ClimoFar. Switching back to ClimoEasy at 1344. It was good practice at least. 1345 Returned to ClimoEasy scan sequence. 1523 Jim Wilson said cloud along sea-breeze front 2 or 1 hour ago. 1533 To enter S-Pol status on the JOSS NAME page , password: cactus04 1733 Not much to say 1819 Created another set of scan angle from ClimoEasy to try out 0.3deg and 0.8deg. Will do this set instead of 2nd ClimoEasy scan starting at 1830. This sequence is called for now (ClimoEasyB) 1830 Switched to ClimoEasyB- testing Dave's ability to change scan sets. Arturo did it. 1832 Changing to 800 something PRF (Jon LUtz) 1834 Radar stopped at ~5.4deg 1835 Changing samples to 90(from 100) on all 3 surveillance scan. 1845 Tried to run 0deg scans in the meantime, but not sure if it worked. Started new ClimoEasy B scan sequence. 1846 Test signal being messed up with. Still no data, just a blank domain, no ground clutter. 1851 I think that 1845 RainMap hosed. Still no action on the RAID1 monitor. 1900 Still no data 1906 Jon Lutz is still searching for a PRF and # of gates that works. 1909 It appears ot be back with 860.2 Hz PRF, 90 hits. 1911 Stopped, reset, started ClimoEasy scan. This includes the RainMap. 1915 Started, resynced ClimoEasy B scan sequence. 1918 Will probably have to change all scans to 90 samples and save them 1919 Cells popping over high terrain, 100km NE 1920 Will switch to ClimoEasy (regular version) at 1930. Must anticipate growing cells. 1927 Highest cells at 88 km, 56deg topped at 6.4deg 1930 Now back to regular ClimoEasy scan seq. with 2 back-to-back sets up to 7.4deg elevation. Switch to ClimoFar at 1945. 1942 Saved scan file with new scample number and additional scan sequence name_easy.scn. 1945 Started ClimoFar. Changed RainMap & ClimoFar from 100 to 90 samples. 2000 May have to switch to ClimoEasy until Steve & Rit get here. Won't top storms for long. 54deg RHIs for cells. Moving to ClimoEasy for Jim Wilson to take over. 1955 Stopped ClimoFar scan and started ClimRHI. It was topping after 8deg anyway. 1958 Overwrote old name_climo.scn file with new sample numbers. 1959 Started ClimoEasy scan seq. 2015 Scan sequence synched properly to 2015.
