About me

Hello, my name is Nick Guy and I am currently a PhD student in the Radar Meteorology Group at Colorado State University.

I received my BA in Physics from Earlham College.  I then worked in the laser industry for 6 years, at which time I decided to return to school to pursue a career in Atmospheric Science.  I attended San Jose State University where I received my MS in Meteorology .  I then joined the Radar Meteorology group here at CSU in fall 2008.

My MS thesis was a preliminary analysis of convective systems in the 2006 west African monsoon at Niamey, Niger - where the MIT C-band Dual-Doppler radar was located. A focus was given to the quality control of the radar data obtained at the site. You can find a copy of my MS thesis here.

I am currently studying the west African monsoon in a regional sense based on the domain of three ground-based radars deployed during the African Monsoon Multidisciplinary Analysis (AMMA) and NASA-AMMA (NAMMA) field campaigns in 2006.  The sites represent continental, coastal, and maritime sites.

A page containing details of my current research may be found here.

My research interests include:

Mesoscale Meteorology

Remote Sensing (Radar and Satellite Meteorology)

Mountain Meteorology

Forecasting (Forecasting research)
