I am a research scientist for the Radar Meteorology Group in the Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University. My research is mainly focused on thunderstorm charging and lightning, and their relationships with storm kinematics and microphysics. By studying lightning trends and characteristics, we can learn a lot about fundamental storm processes. Further, our research has uncovered some interesting behaviors between anomalously electrified storms, the lightning they produce, and how the new GOES satellites are struggling to detect it.
