Upper level ridge axis was shifting to the SW of Baja and a small PVA zone associated with old IV#10 was located over S AZ. The precipitation pattern in SW US was indicative of moisture advection from the SW.

S-POL SUMMARY: As stratiform rain was dissipating over the GOC, an oceanic cell popped up at 286 deg / 131 km. As a couple of cells popped up to the S and E of the cell, and given the oceanic convection observed the previous day at this time was somewhat impressive, the decision was made to start microphysical scanning. RHIs were unimpressive, with shallow precip and no anvils.
